The one bad thing about this weekend is that I think I've come down with the flu. Other than that, it was really nice.
Saturday - Chanko Nabe and a massage, which I mentioned last time. That by itself would normally make for a nice weekend!
Sunday - Had leftover Chanko Nabe for brunch and then went to the movies. We saw "The Day The Earth Stood Still", which was pretty good. After that we did some window shopping and then had dinner at Kua Aina (a Hawaiian burger joint) which was awesome. Then we came home and had some quality time, which was also nice.
I didn't get that good night's sleep because of my flu-like symptoms. If I wasn't freezing, I was burning up. I'm at work now and I feel much better at least.
In other news, the Orlando Magic are playing out of their minds (in a good way). They just finished a road trip going 4-0, beating the Spurs, Kings, Lakers, and Nuggets. I would have expected them to maybe have dropped the Lakers game because Kobe is insane, or the Nuggets as that game was the 2nd of a back-to-back. But nope, they won out and now have one of the best records in the NBA. Go Magic!
I'm still waiting for my official time slot for that university position interview. I replied early last week with my time slot preferences and they haven't gotten back to me yet. One of the time slots is this Friday, the other is next Tuesday so I think I'll send them a polite little reminder. "HEY GUYS WHEN DO YOU WANT ME TO COME IN?!?" lol.
My body still feels kind of weak so I may skip my weights and just do cardio, then sauna/bath, tonight after work.

Started feeling achy last night, it might be the flu. That would normally be pretty sucky anyway, but it's even more so as Miyuki is visiting. She tried to take care of me, and I was really glad for that. She made Chanko Nabe and gave me a massage. She's too good for me kids, I swear. She's out at the store right now buying more stuff for us and I'm typing up this blog, taking the occasional break to curl up in the fetal position and writhe in pain.
At least it's not that stomach thing. Seriously, if it were that I don't know that I'd want her around. I'd hate for her to get it too.
Anyway, when she gets back we're going to eat lunch. After that, I'm not sure. Maybe window shopping somewhere.

background: We have a new native English teacher. Long story short, due to personal reasons the girl from Australia went back home. The school decided to pick up this guy from New Zealand to take her place. (There's even a bit of back drama about how we came to have this guy in the first place, but it's minor compared to the bomb I'm about to drop right here...)
Anyway, the dude is in training right now. He's been watching all of our classes, grades 1-6. Well, he has his little followup training meetings with you-know-who and in one of them he tells her "I really like Kevin's style of teaching. I think I'm basically going to do the exact same thing he does."
Then you-know-who busts out with "That's a good idea. He's the only native speaker with a formal background in education and he's an excellent teacher."
w. t. f.
It wasn't that long ago that my lessons were deemed "inappropriate", and now suddenly I'm an "excellent teacher". It's official, this lady is off her rocker. I mean, she finally got the excellent teacher part correct (yes, I'm excellent and humble... ^_^) but to go from one extreme to the other like that in such a short period of time, during which I haven't changed a thing, crazy stuff.
I still feel achy, but due to changes in the schedule I don't have any classes tomorrow. I think can manage to just show up and drink coffee/TheraFlu all day long. It'll also give me time to work on my essays as I can't get a damn thing done in my apartment.
It's only 9:30? Oh well, I guess I'll turn in early. Hopefully the extra Z's will do me some good.

Got home, packed my gym bag, got to the gym and was not feeling up to the workout. I still wanted to sweat though, so I hit the sauna/bath. That felt pretty darn good. For a moment there I thought I had sweated the flu out of my system. However, I'm back in my apartment and the achy feeling is coming back. Still gots a ways to go I guess. Before I turn in, I'll hit up a nighttime TheraFlu and hopefully I'll feel a little better in the morning.
Oh and I saw a posting for a university gig in Shizuoka. About the same pay/benefits as the gig here in Saitama. I'll throw together an application package and see if anything turns up. The essay for the Saitama gig got my gears turning. Every time I come to live in Japan, I forget how to write for academia - essays, reports and such. That's one good thing about shooting these job apps out there. It'll be good just to keep practicing writing at that level versus "My hobby is sleeping. I like listening to the music. On the weekend I'll go to shopping with my friends together."
Back to the flu, I'll tough it out one more day at work. If I'm still ill at the end of the day tomorrow I'll call in on Wed. *sigh* I could really go for a hearty bowl of soup right about now. Ramen just isn't the same...

I woke up, my throat was sore and body was achy. Took a TheraFlu last night and one this morning. They've pretty much held the symptoms at bay, but my energy is low and I just feel under the weather. At least it's not a particularly strong instance of the flu.... so far.
Speaking of weather, dang it was cold this morning. I have the timer on my heater set to come on an hour before I wake up. It was so cold when my alarm went off, that I thought I forgot to set it. No, the room just hadn't warmed up yet. Coldest day of the year so far. At least the sun is out and it's warming up a little.
3 more classes to go then I'll go home, maybe hit the gym (depends on how sick I feel), have dinner and call it a night.

I think I'm coming down with it. This morning I woke up with a sore throat. Then I noticed that my body was all achy. At first I thought my body was sore from the gym. However, it was a different kind of pain, kind of a dull lethargic soreness, and that's when it hit me... I'm coming down with the flu. Fortunately I have a lot of TheraFlu (daytime, sore throat and nighttime) that I brought with me from home. I think I'll serve up some nighttime before I hit the hay.
Other than that it was a pretty boring day today. Did laundry, made lunch, watched that shi-ty movie "Wanted", played around on facebook, had dinner at the mall, started watching "The Chronicles of Riddick", got bored with it, and here I am.
Oh crap, I still need to do up a lesson thingy for tomorrow. Lemme go do that now.
